213 & The Beer Chicks Announce 8th Street Bottle Shop Joint Retail Venture in Downtown LA

August 4th, 2011 — 10:45am

Historic Downtown LA craft beer specialty store debuts August 13

213 will partner with Christina Perozzi and Hallie Beaune, aka The Beer Chicks, craft beer sommeliers and authors of the craft beer bible The Naked Pint: An Unadulterated Guide to Craft Beer, on a specialty retail outpost in Historic Downtown LA devoted exclusively to craft beers. The 8th Street Bottle Shop and its finely curated selection of crafts beers will officially debut at the Los Angeles Craft Beer Crawl August 13, 2011.

The 8th Street Bottle Shop will be housed just inside the entrance door at Golden Gopher whose rare 1903-issued liquor license provides for on site and packaged liquor to go sales. The Beer Chicks who currently curate 213′s craft beer program and consult on management and staff training will personally handpick the 8th Street Bottle Shop’s craft beer bounty representing the best craft breweries around the world.

“We recently revamped Golden Gopher’s craft beer menu and are adding taps and bottles across the 213 bars,” noted Beer Chick founder Christina Perozzi. “We wanted downtown dwellers and bar patrons to take home the same great beer experience 213 bars provide in the way of personalized service and craft selections.”

“We’re excited about this venture,” enthused Cedd Moses, 213 proprietor. “Downtown LA is a magnet for young, savvy imbibers seeking to satisfy their evolving taste for high quality artisan-crafted spirits. They demand variety and crave a more sophisticated drinking experience. The nuanced flavors of artisanal brews and craft beers appeal to their refined palates.”

Skyler Reeves, head of operations for 213 and the Los Angeles Craft Beer Crawl, now in its sophomore year, added, “The finest crafts beers in the country are being produced in Southern California. The 8th Street Bottle Shop will give the city’s growing legions of craft beer converts a place to taste and take home these limited edition offerings. We want to provide an opportunity to enjoy true artisansal taps and the best craft beers available anywhere.”

The Bottle Shop’s knowledgeable staff will offer special tastes and advise on flavor profiles, food pairings, and what craft beer is best for a variety of occasions based on personal preferences and requests. The Beer Chicks will rate and review crafts and clients will be able to leaf through the shops “beer bible” for descriptions.

ABOUT THE BEER CHICKS

The Beer Chicks are renowned Beer Sommeliers Christina Perozzi and Hallie Beaune. They met while working together at a beer bar, and became fast friends over the bond they shared with their one true love, craft beer. After a long night of bartending and answering the same questions over and over again, they decided (over beers, of course) to write a book that would act as a guide explaining beer in an accessible way, so that everyone could love craft beer as much as they do. Their book, The Naked Pint: An Unadulterated Guide to Craft Beer, was published in November of 2009 (The Penguin Group, New York, NY) to much acclaim. They host beer tastings, seminars, classes and beer pairing dinners mainly to spread the good word about the best beverage on earth and to raise beer to its rightful place! They also are acting beer consultants for all of 213 Downtown Nightlife’s venues. They live by the motto: Beer is Good!
