Mix This: The Bollodello Spritz with Broadway Bar’s Very Own Ozborne Williams

February 5th, 2014 — 1:21pm

THe Bollodello Spritz
The Bollodello Spritz- Is Broadway Bar’s way of paying homage to the Spritz of Italia. The Italian Spritz is the most popular aperitif cocktail in all of Italy. It is known to have originated in Venice, while it was part of the Austrian Empire. The combination of sparking wine and a bitter liqueur makes it the most perfect and refreshing light cocktail.

Mix This: The Cantón Diem Champagne Cocktail

April 17th, 2012 — 4:18pm

The Cantón Diem Champagne Cocktail

Mumm Napa Brut champagne
1-1/4 oz. Domaine de Canton Ginger Liqueur
Fresh orange peel

Champagne is the traditional stuff of celebration, but at Broadway Bar, where we are known for our champagne cocktails, we believe there is always something to celebrate! And sometimes, even a celebration can use a little more kick!

Cue the Canton Diem, a basic yet intricate champagne cocktail that adds a little more spice and kick to that plain old glass of bubbly!

Domaine de Canton is made in Jarnac, France from crystallized Vietnamese baby ginger, Grand Champagne VSOP cognac, neutral spirit, Provencal orange blossom honey and vanilla, providing a rich, smooth flavor while retaining a prominent (yet not overbearing) bite.

Simply pour 1-1/4 oz. of Canton Ginger Liqueur into a chilled champagne flute and fill with your favorite Brut champagne. Add another level of subtle flavor by flaming a fresh orange peel over the glass, then dropping it in the cocktail as a garnish.

Mix This: Champagne Cocktail

When I think about the New Year – I think of friends, family, and parties!!!  And parties means cocktails so why not do something interactive with your guests and loved ones.  One cocktail that I think is perfect for beginning a party off and getting your friends and family to mingle is “The Champagne Cocktail” (recipe below).  The basis of this cocktail is to take a lower grad brut champagne and liven it up with bitters and a single sugar cube.  Here is where the interactive can come into the party.  It’s as simple as creating a bitter bar.  Go online or one of my favorite places (because they love what they do and can help you choose the right kind) is BarKeeper in Sunset Junction.  Set up all your bitters and various garnishes to compliment the bitters and let your friends and family play around and be creative.

CHAMPAGNE COCKTAIL

Glassware:  Champagne Flute (will help the bubbles bring the aromatic of the bitters to the top)

- Brut Champagne (your choice)
- 1 White Sugar Cube
- 2-3 dashes of your favorite bitters or .25 oz
- Single Lemon Peel or garnish of your choice

Fill flute half-way up with champagne.  Place sugar cube in a bar spoon over flute. Dash bitters on top of sugar cube in spoon (you will see sugar cube soaking bitters up).  Place bitters and sugar cube in Flute.  Fill champagne to the top and garnish.
