  • Seven Grand DTLA Whiskey Society: Featuring Jefferson’s w/ Trey Zoeller
    Apr 3, 2014 7:00pm
    @ Seven Grand DTLA

Hang on tight- another event has been added for this week! Tonight at 7pm, we will be welcoming Trey Zoeller, Founder and Master Blender for Jefferson's Whiskey in to taste and educate us on his line of Bourbon and Rye, and to sample "Ocean II" a super-rare Ocean-Aged Bourbon that spends some of it's maturation rolling on the open seas in a barrel on a ship that travels the world. Totally crazy, come meet this madman.

Thanks ahead of time for all that are coming to the Highland Park event tonight, if you can't get in because we reach capacity, don't fret, there's still Thursday.

There will be Jefferson's drink specials available at the main bar, while supplies last. Tell your friends.

There will be a Welcome Punch served for the 7GWS event in the Jackalope at 6:30pm. Please come early and get a good seat. We will fill the room to capacity and start the tasting and education. Late-comers will not be seated, but can enjoy the Jefferson's Drink Specials at the main bar and meet Trey after the event.

  • The Midnight Pine
    Apr 3, 2014 9:00pm
    @ Seven Grand San Diego

The Midnight Pine is the soundtrack to a solitary desert drive beneath a crescent moon. Lead by the haunting voice of young siren Shelbi Bennett, the Pine presents a sparse, hypnotic, eerie and beautiful soundscape. The album wanders through ghost towns of morose psychedelia, brooding folk and triumphant pop. To keep the focus on the vocals there are no drums, just found objects, chains, saw blades, sheet metal, utensils and short wave radios are layered to keep a subtle pulse of percussion pushing the songs forward. The Midnight Pine is an exercise in serene nonchalance, moody atmospheres and songs that braid your heart strings into a rich tapestry. Live the band can conjure pin drop attention with it's gentle movements and with a quick shift in dynamic can be a sonic maelstrom. The voice of Shelbi Bennett is a force of nature, captivating, volatile, gorgeous and pummeling.

The Los Angeles retro funkateers bring genuine old school groovyness to the forefront keeping it fresh through melodic hooks and trancelike beats. Heavily inspired by the sounds of Fela Kuti, James Brown, and the 80's.. this Ain't Your Grandma's Afrobeat.
