‘Golden State of Cocktails’ Debuts January 2014 – New Industry Conference and Celebration of California Cocktail Culture Comes to Downtown L.A. January 27-30
Los Angeles, California — January 27-30, 2014, will mark the debut of California’s first annual, premiere cocktail celebration: Golden State of Cocktails. Led by an advisory board of prolific personalities within the cocktail community, the four-day conference and festival is designed to both educate and celebrate with events includingspecialty themed seminars, interactive demonstrations, evening bar crawls, and a grand finale party, reinforcing California’s role as a premier cocktail destination on the global stage.
The Golden State of Cocktails will serve as a hands-on tradeshow, ceremony and festival for members of the industry and media, curated by an advisory board of experts including:

How to Avoid an Audit: Led by the KBKG accounting firm, learn how to use good practices to avoid an audit in your bar/restaurant.
Bartend Forever: Presented by a leading physical therapist, learn about preventative steps and exercise/stretches to stay protectedfrom injury.
Built for Speed: In a busy bar, every second counts. This lab, led by the fastest bartenders in the West, will share their expertise on how to maximize efficiencies by using careful bar design and preparation methods that can make or break a business.
Opening Bars: An entire series of labs spotlights the ins and outs of opening a venue. Learn what it takes to make a dream a reality from fundraising to operations.
Flavor Bouncing: Combining ingredients and flavors in new and unique ways can be a challenge. This lab shares the science behind “Flavor Bouncing” and how to use various flavor combinations to create distinctive drink recipes.

Evening Bar Crawls
The Golden State of Cocktails will lead a tasting tour on January 27 & January 28 of bespoke bar crawls focusing on the Hollywood/Silver Lake and Downtown Los Angeles. Each night will include 6-10 bar destinations featuring guest bartenders, special tastings/pairings, and entertainment.
Grand Finale Party
Presented in partnership with the Los Angeles Times,the evening of January 30 marks the conference’s finale feteand ultimate tribute to the Golden State hosted atthe iconic Union Station. Consumers and industry will unite to experience the best of what California has to offerwithsignature cocktails and food fromthe areas celebrated bars, restaurants, bartenders, and chefs.
