October 13th, 2011 — 6:27pm

Friday, October 14th

Casey’s Irish Pub – Judson McKinney
Judson McKinney..If you don’t like it it’s pretty much a fact you like really shitty music. This dude can sing, play an instrument, and it comes from a good place. Most bands play in to their haircuts, and barely in to their tight pants. Judson plays to people who want to listen to great lyrics and tap your foot to something honest. When music is played honest, it great. That will never change. At the end of the day a great song will last longer than your haircut, or the groupie you’re trying to bang. I like Judson. You will too.

Caña Rum Bar – Native Wayne
Tonight Grammy-winning reggae luminary Wayne Hobson, also known as Native Wayne to his Indie 103 fans, will be behind the wheels of steel bringing us the good vibes via an eclectic set of classic reggae, dancehall, afrobeat, and whatever else he deems worthy of your listening pleasure. It’s Friday night, so if you’d like to ensure yourself a table or bring more than three guests, reservations are necessary. Right near the beach… Boyyyyyyyyyy!

Las Perlas – Kapsoul Records
What does Jazz, Funk, Soul, Rare Groove Disco have in common with Tequila? Las Perlas!!!! That’s right Kapsol Records presents every Friday at Las Perlas with DJ Kap, Ohmae & Chikaramanga. Come in and get drunk…. Or stay sober depending on what you’re in to.

Saturday, October 15th

Casey’s Irish Pub – The Peach Kings
Wandering royalties, Paige Wood and Steven Trezevant, crossed paths early in the year MMX. San Francisco held the rendezvous and harbored the early stages of the Peach sound as the two quickly stormed the boundaries of genres. From the tatters of this crusade arose a hybrid class of music: Gypsydelic. Organic in texture and taste, The Peach Kings draw their sound and inspiration from the smoky smooth crackle of blues, folk, and soul vinyls as well as the hypodermic tones synthesized in various beat laboratories across the globe. Stripped down, The Peach Kings power is derived from Paige Wood’s hauntingly sensual vocals combined with Steven Trezevant’s raw guitar majesty.

Las Perlas – DJ Darren Revell
Las Perlas welcomes DJ Darren Revell from 103′s Big Sonic Heaven tonight. Darren will be spinning everything from Post Punk to New Wave to Eighties so grab your head bands and leg warmers and get on down here. We’ll see you then!

Spirit Guide – The Beer Chicks’ Fall Picks @ The 8th Street Bottle Shop!

October 11th, 2011 — 1:47pm

Our favorite beer seasons are upon us! Fall and Winter usher forth some of the best artisanal beers from around the world. We find great comfort in an alcoholic beverage that showcases rich fall flavors like clove, pine, pumpkin, allspice, brandied cherries, vanilla custard and dark chocolate.

This is also the time of Halloween parties and Holiday shin-digs, and we find that the best drinkable gift is a seasonal beer in hand. Let everyone else bring recycled wine gifts, we prefer to provide the conversation piece; a carefully brewed craft beer.

Here’s a list of seasonal craft beers available at 8th Street Bottle Shop (8thstreetbottleshop.com ). Buy a couple as gifts for your friends and co-workers, but be sure to keep at least one for yourself and your beer fridge (selfishness in beer-buying is key to enjoyment of the experience). Please note that many of these seasonal brews are rare and limited, so we may only have a few bottles left!!

Destiny O’Dempsey @ Tony’s Tonight

October 10th, 2011 — 1:28pm

She’s a renegade. She’ll drink your whiskey, and then write you song of sadness..of course the song is about you because she took your whiskey. Thats my take on this little gem of an artists by the name if Destiny O’Dempsey. She sings from what is experience, or close to it.

Her music is influenced by the old timers and you can tell because I think when the old timers passed on they channel music through Dempsey. I would even say it’s rootsy, gospel, folk, and played by a mermaid. I know, you think I’ve had too much to drink writing this but check it out for yourself. You will agree.

Stop in at Tony’s Saloon tonight and hear it for yourself. Dempsey starts around 10P and will be singing songs and maybe telling a story or two. But one thing is for sure…keep your hands on your whiskey at all times.

Destiny O’Dempsey
Live at Tony’s Saloon on October 10th
2017 E 7th St (Btwn Mateo and Santa Fe)

Listen to Destiny O’Dempsey’s “Gypsy Heart”
