Seven Grand Whiskey Society: San Diego Inaugural with Ed Adams, Thursday, 8/9/12

We are very excited to announce the kick-off the Seven Grand Whiskey Society, San Diego Chapter!

This Thursday, August 9th, we will be hosting Whiskey Master Ed “Dirt” Adams. Ed will be teaching and tasting us on Oban, Oban Distiller’s Edition, Oban 18, Talisker, Talisker Distiller’s Edition, Lagavulin and Lagavulin 12.

Ed’s portfolio includes some of the best Classic Malts in the world, and he’s one of the best educators in the business, so don’t miss out on this Inaugural Event! This is going to be awesome.

Meeting starts at 8:30pm, SHARP! Please don’t be late. We will be in the backroom at Seven Grand San Diego, 3054 University Ave., in Northpark.

Memberships can be purchased at the bar, following the event. Dues are 120$ for one year, and allow you to bring a guest to any and all events. We guarantee monthly meetings, and often we have many more than that, with Brand Ambassadors and Master Distillers coming in from all over the world to educate us on what makes their whiskies unique.

First meeting is on us, just RSVP and show up. If you are unable to register for this one, don’t worry, there will be plenty more- this is just the beginning!

We will be having a big San Diego Grand Opening Party in late August, details to follow.

Casey’s Irish Pub – The Janks
Zachary Zmed (Guitar, Keys, Vocals) has been working under The Janks name since 2006, and released their debut record ‘Delicate Mouthfeels’ later that same year. Since 2007 the group went through numerous incarnations until younger brother Dylan Zmed (Mandolin, Vocals) began singing and playing mandolin in the group in early 2010. Since then they released their 2nd record ‘Hands of Time’ in the beginning of 2012 and are now playing all over the greater LA area with drummer Leon LeDoux and bassist Paul Inder, as well as gearing up for their 3rd record. Catch them Friday August 10th with a special guest at Casey’s.

Tonight Grammy-winning reggae luminary Wayne Hobson, also known as Native Wayne to his Indie 103 fans, will be behind the wheels of steel bringing us the good vibes via an eclectic set of classic reggae, dancehall, afrobeat, and whatever else he deems worthy of your listening pleasure. Shawn Carter and Natasha Chaney met at a party, by the end of the night they were finishing each others sentences. Only three months later BEAUTY OF THE BEATS was born. BEAUTY OF THE BEATS are the vibe setters, tastemakers, and déjà vu creators! Natasha and Shawn, two friends brought together by another (we call her “Charlie”) and a common desire to bring quality, cutting edge, musical gems to any dance floor.

Casey’s Irish Pub – War Widow
War Widow was founded in Los Angeles in June 2010. Their unique style incorporates punk, blues, thrash, and other genres of music into the synth driven music of its time. The band was formed by ex-chef and oil painter J.P. Russel (Mellowdrone, 16 Volt), and guitar builder, Eric Blackwell… a complete nobody. Their first album was recorded and Produced by Jonathan Bates (Mellowdrone, Big Black Delta, White Sea, M83). The name of the band was taken from a line in the novel Slaughterhouse Five by author Kurt Vonnegut.
