Casey’s Irish Pub – Planets
In 2009, after writing together for 2+ years, filmmaker Adam Stilwell and guitarist Adam Cotton decided to turn their overflowing well of songs into a massive narrative, based on Stilwell’s dark stories and Cotton’s bottomless wealth of musical ambition. In a year’s time, the two-man show grew into a twenty-person production. Friends lent there talents and one by one joined the band, creating a one of a kind creative collective that performed rock operas such as “TheLandofTheNewGhosts” and “TheBigDrowningHeart” , and most recently, “TheDarkWoods” in the strange corners of Los Angeles.

Spirit Guide: Mezcal Delirio de Oaxaca with Raul Yrastorza @ Las Perlas

June 6th, 2012 — 4:37pm

A massive wave of new mezcal is about to flood the California and New York markets…the battle is who gets what….The first of this new wave hit California this month….its Delirio mezcal.

A wonderful and well balanced introduction to the new wave that is coming…..

Mezcal Delirio de Oaxaca is meticulously handcrafted under the supervision of master distiller Fernando Santibañez. After 25 years of working for large international companies mass producing rum, brandy and tequila, Fernando decided to return to his roots in Oaxaca to make artisanal mezcal. His goal is to bring this legendary spirit to consumers around the world. He uses specific criteria to select quality growers and distillers based on heritage, tradition, experience and terroitory. Fernando personally oversees every step of the process to ensure the final product consistently meets his defined specifications. Delirio de Oaxaca reflects Fernando’s passion for making spirits by hand and with care

The Joven comes from a Palenque in Matatlán, it is an Espadin and double distilled in copper alembics and blended to 84 proof. A little heavier in smoke than the reposado yet the fruit characters of the mezcal soften and round out the smoke, heavy agave on the palate.

The Reposado comes from a palenque in Miahautlan and double distilled in copper alembics and blended to 80 proof. Subtle smoke and heavy roasted agave on the palate.

The Anejo is on its way and I will update then.

Enjoy,

Raul Yrastorza, Las Perlas, GM
