If you missed them last year when they were at Casey’s you’re in luck! You can catch The Terrapin every Friday in June with a special guest each week. Showtime is at 10:30P and it’s free!

Caña Rum Bar – Native Wayne
Tonight Grammy-winning reggae luminary Wayne Hobson, also known as Native Wayne to his Indie 103 fans, will be behind the wheels of steel bringing us the good vibes via an eclectic set of classic reggae, dancehall, afrobeat, and whatever else he deems worthy of your listening pleasure. It’s Friday night, so if you’d like to ensure yourself a table or bring more than three guests, reservations are necessary. Right near the beach… Boyyyyyyyyyy!

Las Perlas – Kapsoul Records
What does Jazz, Funk, Soul, Rare Groove Disco have in common with Tequila? Las Perlas!!!! That’s right Kapsoul Records presents every Friday at Las Perlas with DJ Kap, Ohmae & Chikaramanga. Come in and get drunk…. Or stay sober depending on what you’re in to.

Golden Gopher – Van Halen Listening Party
Listen to side A of “Van Halen” and side A of “1984″. Join us on June 1st to honor one of the greatest American rock n roll bands and two great releases from 9P till 10P. If you won’t be at Staples to see the boys do it live on June 1st then you can stop in at Golden Gopher to hear side A of “Van Halen” followed by side A of “1984″, both in their entirety, and have a good stiff drink. No band did it with better songs, more style and definitely more booze than Van Halen. And for that, we thank those dudes for starting a band and making some noise.

Saturday, June 2nd

Casey’s Irish Pub – Planets
In 2009, after writing together for 2+ years, filmmaker Adam Stilwell and guitarist Adam Cotton decided to turn their overflowing well of songs into a massive narrative, based on Stilwell’s dark stories and Cotton’s bottomless wealth of musical ambition. In a year’s time, the two-man show grew into a twenty-person production. Friends lent there talents and one by one joined the band, creating a one of a kind creative collective that performed rock operas such as “TheLandofTheNewGhosts” and “TheBigDrowningHeart” , and most recently, “TheDarkWoods” in the strange corners of Los Angeles.

Las Perlas – DJ Darren Revell
Las Perlas welcomes DJ Darren Revell from 103′s Big Sonic Heaven tonight. Darren will be spinning everything from Post Punk to New Wave to Eighties so grab your head bands and leg warmers and get on down here. We’ll see you then!

Caña Rum Bar – Music Selector Jose Galvan
Its time for you to stop living and start winning! What better way to do that than to join us @ Caña Rum Bar for Jose Galvan. Tonight and every Saturday night Jose joins us playing Latin Alternative, Funky Beats and Caribbean Rhythms. We will also be serving some of the most delicious rum cocktails ever to have touched your tongue. Get in here and get some!

Casey’s Irish Pub – Stanley Cup Finals: Kings vs. Devils

The game will be showing on all of our giant flat screen TV’s with sound. Go Kings!!! And buy a drink too!

Quote of the Day: Babe Ruth

May 31st, 2012 — 11:13am

“I learned early to drink beer, wine and whiskey. I think I was about 5 when I first chewed tobacco.”
-Babe Ruth

Mix This: The Mexican Phoenix

May 30th, 2012 — 5:19pm

The Mexican Phoenix
- .5oz Tanteo Cocoa Tequila
- 1oz Bootlegger’s Black Phoenix (chocolatey coffee chipotle stout)
- .5oz fresh squeezed lemon
- .5oz simple syrup
- .5oz egg white

Shake all, serve up in a coupe.
Garnish with a sprinkling of pumpkin spice.

This drink was created for The Golden Gopher by Jonathan (owner of Tanteo) & Justin Fix (Tanteo Market Manager).

We recently had a tasting of around 30 of the Tanteo cocktails one day & noticed that none of them had beer as an ingredient. We asked them if they knew it was a super popular request these days. We know how to make all of the old school beer cocktails, but wanted something new, simple and delicious. After some trial and error, they came up with the “Mexican Phoenix,” which we all loved! It’s creamy, sweet and spicy!
